Fernhill Village

Fernhill Village is the newest addition to the Bolton Clarke Fernhill community at Caboolture. Fernhill Village provides a suburban-like feel to mid-rise independent living apartments, creating a new typology of aged care. Filled with mixed-use functions, this new typology will bring in the local residents to nurture an intergenerational community.

Designing for Humans

DESIGNING FOR HUMANS

Utilising design principles of biophilic architecture, social sustainability, post-pandemic responsive architecture, inclusivity and environmental sustainability, Fernhill Village is made for humans, by humans. Focusing on creating positive experiences that nurture healing and happiness, residents and visitors are provided with the opportunity to create connections and foster a sense of place.
Vertical Greening System

VERTICAL GREENING SYSTEM

In collaboration with a construction management student writing his thesis on the benefits of Vertical Greening Systems, a cable trellis system was designed for the double-skin green façade that welcomes visitors and residents into the village. Vertical Greening Systems, particularly in healthcare environments, are found to be passive cooling systems that improve the well-being of those who experience them.
