Hall Of Democracy- “People’s Voice”

Democracy is equitable access and opportunity to be heard. The Brisbane People’s Voice building will act as a central discussion point for Brisbane’s political, economic and health sectors. Each building is purposed with providing equitable access and publicly accessed spaces for free discussion. This ties in with the meaning that democracy requires an equitable opportunity of speech to be heard from any human being. This hall provides open spaces, consultation hubs, meeting rooms, medical aid centers and opportunities for spaces to be interchangeable and multi-purposed for user use. This was specifically purposed with allowing any user of the building to gain knowledge, information, and assistance in understanding Brisbane. It starts from the Political building on George St, which provides open podium spaces for group rallies, interactive screen and live news updates, information rooms and political exhibition spaces to gain an understanding of the construct of Brisbane. Users then make their way to the Economic and Information Hub centre which provides interactive spaces and consultation hubs for all ages and people to join in. Finally, they may enter the health building which includes services that help assist users in the health related sector. These spaces are connected by a central Luxfer Bridge of Connection which sits above the main rally square. This square is purposed with becoming a space for open safe protests, walks and awareness campaigns to take place. This space provides users with a safer and more manageable environment to be heard and also to learn or inform of new spaces. This hall was purposed with creating equitable access and giving back the voice to Queensland users. Users are required to journey through from past information within the political buildings to new experiences within the economic building to aid and assist our users. This space will be used to focus forward and look to a bright future which was inspired greatly by the surrounding casino developments from the building façade to existing buildings such as the limestone circulation pathways.
