Thinking Beyond Boundaries

Thinking beyond boundaries in the urban built environment, having ambiguity in boundaries defined by modern built environment enables us to look at the potential of future connected urban development.

Thinking beyond boundaries

Urban Boundaries are redefined with greenery enabling to bridge visual, physical and programmatic boundaries. Boundaries are shared beyond buildings.
Initial mass sketching and program diagram. Connection with inside and outside of building was key element in initial design development.
Boundaries between adjacent buildings are carefully designed to create a space where site is no longer defined by unutilized cold concrete boundary walls.
Vertical circulation binds separation between different programs together. Spaces opens freely to each spaces.

Green laneway blends in the boundaries of buildings creating intersite connections. This laneway occupies more than 1/3 of the site.
Future of urban built environment is made only possible by contribution from developer, owners, community and designers.
Taking step towards livable environment for 50, 100 years and more to come.

External stairs located in green laneway enables passive interaction between users of different spaces; office, communal space, sports facility, makerspace and residential area.
It also proposes connection to adjacent mixed-use building roof-top for it's future development introducing new way of horizontal circulation in urban area.

As difficult it was for this south side façade considering proximity with the adjacent high-rise building, it was also an opportunity. In modern urban development, it is common to cover the such façade of building with privacy screen creating poor spatial quality to both side of the boundary.
With careful design of building edge with curved roof-wall enabled both privacy and aesthetic to occupiers of both end.
